The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy

The Behavioral Health Administration and the University of Maryland Training Center is pleased to bring CCAR-Recovery Coach Academy to Baltimore County.

Dates: August 13-17, 2018

Times: 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., Each day

Cost: Free

Location: Cafe on the Grove- Spring Grove Hospital Center (6 Hickory Drive, Catonsville, MD 21228)

Purpose: The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© is a 5-day intensive training academy focusing on providing individuals with the skills need to guide, mentor and support anyone who would like to enter into or sustain long-term recovery from an addiction to alcohol or other drugs. The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© prepares participants by helping them to actively listen, ask good questions, and discover and manage their own issues.

Participants will learn to:

  • Describe the roles and function of a recovery coach

  • Build skills to enhance relationships

  • Explore many dimensions of recovery and recovery coaching

  • Describe attitudes about self- disclosure and sharing your story

  • Describe stages of change and their applications

  • Increase understanding of power and privilege

  • Address ethical and boundary issues

  • Experience recovery wellness planning

  • Practice newly acquired skills

Instructors: Beth Terrence, CPRS, CCAR-T, Founder of Holistic Recovery Pathways, Annapolis, MD. and Adelaide Weber, CCAR-T, Coordinator of Special Programs, Office of Consumer Affairs, Maryland Behavioral Health Administration.

CEUs: This training provides 30 CPRS CEUs.

Additional Information: There is free parking available. Manuals will be given to participants at the start of the training. Light breakfast will be available, lunch is on your own.

If you are unable to attend all hours of a training, please let us know immediately so we can offer the spot to another peer. If you do not notify us 48 hours prior to the specific training of your inability to attend you will be assessed a $25 fee for non- attendance.
